I'm Engaged! // A New Year // Life Update

Hello darlings!

Guess what happened at New Year, Will proposed! I'm sorry this post is a little overdue, with it being the 22nd of January, but the first three weeks of January has been pretty hectic. I've wanted to let you guys know sooner but i just haven't had time. But Isaac is asleep and i have this week off work so i hope to write a few posts! The first being a little life update, my engagement, Isaac, diet etc!
On New Years Eve Will and myself went out for the evening, we went and had a few drinks and a relaxing evening without baby. Just before midnight we went up the the Crescent in Bath where we live to watch the fireworks, then at Midnight Will got down on one knee. <3 Of course i said yes! My engagement ring is a beautiful classic single diamond, yellow gold ring that i just love! Friends and family have all be so thrilled for us and can't wait to start planning the wedding!

Saying that although i've only be engaged for 3 weeks, I went to my first wedding fair last weekend with my mum and mother- in- law to be, which was a amazing and overwhelming all at the same time! If you follow me on Snapchat (Perfect Fixation) you would have seen all the amazing dresses and cakes. Yes i did have to try some wedding cake i know it was hard but i did it for the team ;) haha! I've decided to buy a scrap book and start coming up with ideas, also i need to create a Pinterest board, who am i kidding several Pinterest boards! To check these out heres the link.
(Don't worry that plug socket isn't live)
Isaac i now 11 months old! I know i can't believe it either! He's 1 next month so i need to start planning his little party! I'll do a full update in a separate blog post as i could write about him all day. He got the most wonderful personality, hes so kind and generous already, i'm so proud to be his mama.

I'm not one for making New Years resolutions as i never stick to them and not to sound vein but i'm pretty happy with myself and my life, i don't what it to change. Saying that i am eating better and watching my weight as i still have a bit of baby weight to loose before the wedding. But that is not a new resolution its what i'm always trying to do, and rarely stick to! But if i was going to change anything this year and put more effort into would be History. I use to love history, i have my degree in it. But since having Isaac and moving and doing up out new house i haven't had time for it, so this year i want to fall back in love with it. Make the effort to visit more places and read more books, and most importantly find a history related job!

I'd love to know about your New Year!

Jackson Reece Herbal Wipes

Hello darlings.

Sorry i haven't posted for a week, my new house doesn't have wifi so i haven't been able to post. I'm at my parents house for the day so i'm using their wifi to upload that why i'm posting on a Sunday instead of my usual Tuesday and Friday. Jackson Reece very kindly contacted me a month ago and asked me if i would be interested in testing out some of their baby products and with the amount of baby wipes i'm getting through with Isaac of course i said yes. Jackson Reece are a brand that creates herbal baby wipes for children with eczema and sensitive skin, hypoallergenic and demagogically approved. Both on their packets and website (link) list all their natural ingredients. Which is great that they are so open with everything thats is in their wipes, Its important that parents know what they are putting on their babies skin, after all your babies health is your main concern. More brands should do this.

I was sent two packs of baby wipes, herbal and natural. A pack of nose wipes and some antibacterial hand spray/gel. The packaging is so cute! It makes the brand stand out in the shops compared to many other baby/own brands.
The two packs of baby wipes i tried were natural and herbal (£1.60). They are designed especially for very sensitive skin, Isaac at birth had dry skin and a rash. but even if your baby doesn't have eczema or any skin complaints all baby skin is precious and sensitive as its brand new! Using these wipes i didn't find any sign of rash or irritation, so the sudorem was put away for a while. Very wet unlike a lot of wipes on the market. They left Isaac's skin super so soft. They are parabean free and organic. And as a vegetarian and a mum who ise using organic when she can this pleases me greatly. The herbal ones i'm not a fan of the scent although it does claim they are fragrance free. Its a very herbal smell as you'd expect, quite lavendery. .
The next product i tested was nose wipes (£1.99), these area great idea, i've never seen this type of product.I have only used a couple on Isaac as hes still very young and hasn't really had a bad cold yet so there have been no use for them, but they are handy for in the future, so they have been put away. Lastly anti bacterial hand gel (unknown price). Every parent needs this, its always important to clean your hands before and after you touch baby and this little tube is great for on the go. Fast drying and i love the scent!
I'm so happy all of these products are organic they are such a great idea and i'm look forward to using more in the future. I found you can buy them in Boots, John Lewis, Tesco, Amazon and Mothercare. Or you can purchase them from their website. (link)

*These products were sent to me but all opinions are my own.

I'd love to know have you tried these wipes?

New Boots // Winter Sale

Hello darlings

Recently i've been a bit bargain mad, every since we got our new place and had a baby me and Will (my boyfriend) have been on a tight budget. I had a little nose through the Winter/end of Season sales online and i was on the USC website, i've bought many of my boots from there and have loved every pair i own. I came across these brown Miso Hiker Boots for £14! Which was a total bargain. But now they've gone back to £21 which is still better than half price.
The heels are 2.5inches, perfect for every day, They are comfortable and i love the colour, i don't own any brown boots so when i saw these i was so pleased. Overall i love them! What do you think?

Introducing baby Isaac // Birth Story // Emergency C Section.

Hello darlings!

I know its been a while and like all my recent posts i'm starting with an apology about the lack of posts but and this time I have a good excuse for why I haven't found the time to write. I had a baby! Introducing baby Isaac, born 5 days early by Emergency C Section, on 21/02/17 at 18:57, weighing 5lbs 12oz (2.6kg).

Birth story:
I thought i'd share a little about my birth experience and show you guys a few pictures. I went into hospital on Sunday 19th after experiencing some blood loss and reduced movement. As i was so close to my due day (which was the 26th) the doctor decided to induce me and make sure he was safe. I had a pessary put in that night to start my contractions. The following lunch time (Monday) I started to go into labour but it wasn't till early Tuesday morning (3am) was I dilated enough to have my waters broken. After my waters were successfully broken I was put on to a hormone drip and monitored closely. This was not how I had planned to give birth but I made the best of the situation and all the doctors and midwifes were wonderful! The NHS is amazing and shouldn't be talked about so negatively.

I have to admit I was not prepared for the level of pain I was about to experience, I think I was a little naive about how painful contractions were going to be. I'd heard they were like period pains and thought I'd be able to handle it, but boy did I scream! I decided to see how far I could go without having any pain relief apart for gas and air. And I did pretty good; It was about 6pm on Tuesday when things started to go wrong, I was only 7cm dilated and my baby's heart rate was going down and things weren't moving along as quickly as they need to be for me to give birth vaginally. So I was taken into theatre and prep for surgery. Although I wasn't planning to have a C section and I was terrified, it was a really good experience.

Recovery
They say it takes 6 weeks to recover from a C section, my operation was 2 and half weeks ago and i'm still tender and taking it easy. I underestimated how long it would take to heal and have overdone it a couple times but now I'm letting people do things for me and taking this time to be with my little boy. People who say a C Section is the easy option and not really giving birth are idiots.

I'm successfully breastfeeding which I'm so happy about, it was painful for the first 4/5 days, my nipples were chapped and he was cluster feeding so he rarely left my breast. But i persevered and now we got it down. He's putting on weight well, hes gone from 2.6kg to 3.2kg! I have a feeling he is going to huge!
As I write this he is 16 days old and he can already hold his head up (not for long) and is so alert! He pulls the cutest little faces and even smiles (and no its not wind haha). That's it for today, welcome to the world little Isaac, I'm so happy and I look forward to mentioning him more on my blog in the future!
