Trying a Foundation Primer....

Hello darlings.

Whats makes a good base? Primers, you here so many people emphasize how important primers are, if i'm honest i rarely bother, i just find them an extract step in my makeup routine. But i thought to myself why not give them a go and see what all the hype is about. I do use eye primers quite a lot but rarely base. i just use a moisturizer under my foundation. I have dry skin so my makeup tends to last pretty decently by itself. But i saw this No7 product said 'airbrushed' and i was intrigued! The one i tried was the No7 Airbrush Away Primer, I got this in a Christmas set from my brother last year. I did a little research and its £16.50 for 30ml which isn't the cheapest baring in mind Rimmel, Maybelline, Collection etc all do primers in the drugstore. But of its good its worth the price, right?
I'll start with the packaging as that is the first thing that you see. The packaging is really nice, it feels quite luxurious, not cheap looking at all. I have to say i'm quite a fan of the black and silver, one of my favourite colour combinations at the moment! Its the colour theme of my new bedroom! When testing this primer i did both with and without moisturizer underneath, i have to admit on its own it still clinged to my dry patches which was annoying. Applying a thin layer of my favourite Simple moisturizer made all the difference! With the moisturizer it applied really smoothly but sadly the 'airbrushed', look i was really looking forward to seeing didn't really happen but it definitely provided a good base for my foundation. The product applied easily, it made my skin feel smooth and silky which transferred through my foundation. I think girls without dry skin would find this product really good. I'm not sure about oily skinned girls, i'd love to know if anyone with oily skin has tried this product? i'd love to hear your input. Another thing that let down this product was the scent, but i don't really like the No7 skincare scent anyway, sorry No7...
Overall i really liked it and i'm glad i got it for Christmas but i wouldn't say it was worth £16.50 and i wouldn't repurchase it. For me as i still had to use something underneath as well so i'll just stick to my moisturizer or i might try another drugstore one. But for girls with normal/oily skin would probably get on really well with it.

I'd love to know have you tried this product?
What primer would you recommend?

Olay Pore Minimzer CC Cream Review

Hello darlings.

I posted a picture of the Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream on Instagram (follow me at @Perfect_Fixation) a little over a month ago and i have been meaning to write up my thoughts on this product. I've finally got round to testing it and i have a few thoughts on it :)
I'll start off by saying i'm really happy that this product has SPF 15 in it, i think its really important for skin products to have SPF, its very important to protect your skin all the time no matter the season. Another factor that really enticed me to purchased this was the colour range, Olay produced a fair to light, its nice that they have a really light shade which matches me well, even if a little bit pink side! The formula is light weight and doesn't clog my pores, i'm not sure if its minimizes them as its suppose to but it definitely doesn't make them look more noticeable. Its really moisturizing which is really good for my dry skin but it isn't too greasy, so it hasn't broken me out, which is always a bonus. The product has a nice smell but can't smell it on your skin which i know a lot of people would have a problem with.

The coverage is extremely light, you can wear it on its own but its not enough converge for me personally, i have a lots acne scares i need to cover, but if i wasn't leaving the house or just popping to get milk i'd wear it on its own. I mainly use it as a base, it a wonderful primer, it keeps my makeup in place all day.

You can purchase it here

I'd love to know have you tried this product?

L'Oreal infallible Matte Primer and Foundation REVIEW

 Hello darlings.

My Revlon Colour Stay Foundation has always been my favourite foundation, i've had it for years and rarely try other foundation. (With the exception of the Bourjois Healthy Mix) While i was in Edinburgh before Christmas i saw there was 3 for 2 on all L'Oreal products and you get a free nail polish! So i though i'd try the most hyped L'Oreal infallible Matte Primer and Foundation. I also bought the Eva Longoria nude lipstick and the nail polish that i got free was Scarlet Vamp. (My Christmas nails where i used it :) ) I've had this foundation for a little over a month now and have a few thoughts to share with you guys.

Packaging:
I like the packaging, i'm use to foundations being in a glass bottle but this is a plastic tube. Its nice that the primer and foundation match and seem like a set. You get 35 ml, which is slightly more than average which is 25/30ml. They both have squeezey applicators, not a pump or a pourer so it easy to use, i much prefer it this way you can control how much you use, something i don't have with my Colour Stay.

Finish:
Primer: It gives a matte finish that leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. It is really lightweight and you can't feel it on the skin.
Foundation: I got it in the lightest shade, porcelain, its a really good colour match, its not too pink or yellow, its just perfect. The foundation is not as high coverage as i was expecting, it is lightweight but it is build-able and doesn't make it cakey It didn't settle into my fine lines or dry patches which was good as i was worried that with me having dry skin it would be a problem. You definitely don't need powder with the foundation, it sets immediately.

Lasting power:
Both the primer and foundation lasted most of the day, not 24 hours, but i don't wear my foundation for 24 hours so perhaps i'm not the best person to test that part out. But i would recommend it if you have a long day at work or university.

Verdict:
I have dry skin so i wasn't sure whether it would be suitable for my skin type but i have been impressed. Its a good colour match. I don't think you need both i found the Foundation last a long time and stays just as matte without the primer. I've nearly finished my Revlon Color Stay this will be my next go to foundation.

You can purchase the primer here and the foundation here.

I'd  love to know have you tried this foundation or primer?
What are your thoughts?

Review: E.L.F Primer | Perfect Fixations

Hello darlings

Today i have for you another quick fire review. This week it is on this little beauty i picked up last year.
I've heard so many great reviews on this e.l.f. primer so i just knew i had to pick one up! and i am so glad i did. For only £1 its a really good quality eye shadow primer. There are several different kinds available in this range, i went for 'Sheer'. I wouldn't exactly describe it as sheer and you can see it on the eyelid. But that does make it good for covering the veins and discolouration on the eyelids. I found it long lasting and it didn't crease. It wasn't cakey or chalky, i'm really impressed with it. I think its great value i do have to say its not as good as Urban Decay but for £1 its brilliant.

You can buy it here.

I'd love to know have you tried this primer? What are your thoughts?

Nivea Express Hydration Primer

Hello darlings

Today i have for you my thoughts on Nivea's daily essentials primer. I've had this product for several months (in fact i mentioned it in my July Favourites here) But now i feel i've had enough time to really road test it as they say.

As always i'll start with the packaging, i love it, its cute and i like the fact its a glass tub so it feels expensive. The only problem is that its not the most travel friendly, but it is small so you could carry it in your handbag if your careful not to drop/through your hand bag around! It has a nice smell, a nice texture and goes on the skin smoothly. I found it did help my makeup stay on but not all day unfortunately but longer than if didn’t use this and a lot longer than other primers i've tried. I love the fact its a moisturizer as well so its light on the skin and doesn't have that silicon feel. Its god value for money as its relatively cheap (although i hate that word) at £4.99 and a little goes a long way!
My main problem with it was it would be better if it had a pump or was in a tube , I hate just sticking my fingers into it as it causes a mess. But oh well i still really like it. It comes in both normal/dry skin and normal/combination skin which is great,

You can buy it here

I'd love to know have you tried this product?
