Lockdown Nails.

 Good evening lovelies.

Hows everyone doing with the second lockdown? It is just me or does it feel completely different to the first one, i think it down to the weather, its dark and damp. A lot harder to go out and do things. I really enjoyed the first lockdown, i gave birth to Violet in April, we did so many house renovations, walks etc. This lockdown has affected my mood more than i thought it would. 

I feel like my choice of nail polish reflects that. I haven't worn black nail polish since i was a teenager when i went though my 'emo' stage. I forgot how much i love the look! This nail polish is Essie's 'Licorice'. I believe i got this is my Essie Advent Calendar a few years ago and i love it.  I've been wearing it for about a week now and nearly no chips!  

I'd love to know how you are coping with the second lockdown?

What have you been doing to keep spirits up?

Pretty In Pink // Nail Care Routine. // My Go To Look.

Hello darlings

Today i thought i would share with you my current go to routine for my nails and the look i have been loving. Its a really simple look that is quick and easy to create.

All the nail polishes are Essie but just by chance i'm not sponsored by them, they are just my current favourites. I start off with the nail file and buffer, any type will do, i make sure all my nails are even and smooth. I then put a thin layer of hand cream on to hydrate my hands. My current favourite is the Nivea Vanilla and Almond Oil, it smells lovely. Then i start with the Essie Apricot Oil to soften and nourish my cuticles. I put two/three coats of Essie 'Not Just A Pretty Face' on three of my nails, my thumb, middle and pinky. Then i put two Essie 'Disco Ball' of the other two. To top it all off i put the Essie Top Coat 'All In One' on top of all my nails to seal it all in and to avoid chipping. I love this look as its quite subtle but pretty and you can wear it daily. 

Essie are not the cheapest nail products but are really good and i find worth the money. But if you're like me and love a bargain you can always deals where you can find them a little cheaper for example TKMaxx, Fragrance Direct, Ebay etc. I have quite a large collection but that is because i bought the Essie Advent calendar a couple years ago after Christmas, 24 nails polishes for £7 (plus i had staff discount at the time) the calendar was worth £70!

Nails Of The Day: BarryM Nude

Hello darlings.

I'm sorry i'm not posting at the moment, its due to my uni workload. My dissertation is due in three weeks time so the clock is ticking! But as i'm sat here on a little study break i though i'd share with you my nails! I just painted them this morning and i'm really happy with how they turned out :) 

This is BarryM 'nude' it took two coats to get it almost opaque. Its a very natural nail polish that is quick and easy. One good thing about it is if you go out the lines its not too noticeable and if it chips it isn't noticeable! Which is great. BarryM nail polish's are one of my favourite brands for nail polishes, they have a gorgeous shade range and they are so long lasting and affordable! A perfect mix. I've yet to be disappointed with Barry M polishes.

I recently put up picture of my nails on Instagram (which you should be following, its perfect_fixation) and i loved them so much i though it's make a very brief impromptu blog post on them!

Essie's Not Just a Pretty Face

This Essie nail polish is a beautiful pinky nude that is very wearable all season round. Its the perfect sophisticated colour, perfect for work, university, school and days out. It only takes two layers to get it opaque, you could just leave it at one if you'd like it to be quite sheer but i prefer to layer it. Its a lovely formula that is long lasting, not as long lasting as Barry M nail polishes but still a decent amount of time. I have yet to be disappointed by Essie nail polishes, the quality and the colour selection is amazing.

Disappointing Products #2

Hello darlings.

Continuing with a series i started last year (link) today's post is the second installment of my disappointing products. As i mentioned last time most of these products that i haven't liked are ones that i've liked other products from the range but this particular product i didn't like. However what doesn't work/what i don't like might not be the case for you. These products are either not what i was expecting or wasn't very good quality so here is my little summary of them, i hope you enjoy :) 

I'll start off with the two nail polish that sadly haven't been what i was expecting and hoping for. First up is the Illamasqua Nail Polish, in Scarab, i picked this up in TKMaxx a couple months back, i bought it to wear on Christmas day as it looked a little bit fancy and special. The colour is beautiful and the application was smooth, the problem came afterwards within about 4 hours it had chipped! It continued to chip and by day 3 i had only half nail polish on my nails. Again similar with the Illamasqua nail polish this Max Factor Gel Shine Lacquer in Sheen Merlot i had the same problem, although its a gorgeous shade it chips so fast! I haven't tried any other Max Factor or Illamasqua nail polishes so i don't know if its just the ones i have that chips so badly, but i am in two minds whether to try more. 

Next up is the E.L.F Warm Bronzer. I love e.l.f and i was so excited when i bought this palette a year or so ago when i went to visit their store in Cardiff but i was so disappointed, i think this is the product that makes me the saddest in this post. The product isn't creamy, it is really powdery as you can see by the swatches. The pay off isn't great for the blush, its actually non existence, which sucks as its a perfect subtle rose shade that i was planning to use a my everyday blusher. The highlight is too powdery, the bronzers too orange and the pigmentation is weak. 

Lastly the Rimmel Eye Shadow Quad in Foggy Grey. This Rimmel quad i bought to do my one brad of makeup look (link) and at first i really liked it, it did the job and created a nice look. Swatched the shades don't look too bad but when you use a brush the pigmentation is poor and they aren't very creamy. Its not the worst eye shadows i've ever used but when you can get MUA and Makeup Revolution for the same price and for less money too its no comparison. I've heard the individual Rimmel eye shadows are fantastic so maybe i will pick up one of those.

My favourite Autumn (Fall)/Winter Nail Polishes 2015

Hello darlings.

Today post on Perfect Fixation is about my favourite autumn (fall) and winter nail polishes, i did a post similar to this last year and thought i'd make it a yearly tradition, i hope you enjoy :) 

Starting off with the neutral shades, i have been currently loving NYC's 'Park Ave' and Primark's P.S. 'Caramel Kiss' they are both lovely nude/brownish/taupe shades that go with all autumnal outfits. Another P.S. shade that i believe is perfect for this season (I'm sorry it doesn't say the shade name i got this one in a set last year) it is a lovely deep purple that has a lovely sheen. Another purple this time not so deep is Barry M 'Berry Cosmo' I love this nail polish its my second bottle i've bought, i always get it out this time of year and Barry M polishes are such good quality. Next is No7 'Deep Wine' i got this nail polish in my No7 advent calendar last year, its a gorgeous shade, perfect for this season, very autumnal, its only a small size so i hope to pick up a full size bottle as will soon run out. Max Factor's 'Sheen Merlot' i have such a love hate relationship with this nail polish! I adore the colour and the way it applies and looks, it just chips so quickly! Its the only Max Factor nail polish i've tried so i don't know if they are like this. Lastly OPI 'William Tell Me About It' i mentioned this nail polish in my last autumn nails blog post, its still one of my favourites, i just love OPI nail polishes and i love finding them at TK Maxx and getting a great deal!

NOTD | Perfect Fixations

Hello darlings

Today post is another nail of the day. Recently i've been painting my nails more than usual, i think i'm using it as a distraction from my essays. I'm definitely the queen of procrastination! Anyway back to the nails! I've always wanted to try a matte nail polish so i picked up Barry M Matte last week in 'Vanilla'. Its not very season appropriate but i just loved the colour so i couldn't wait any longer to try it!  

I'd love to know have you tried any of the Barry M Matte polishes?

NOTD | Perfect Fixations

Hello darlings. 

Today i have for you my Nail of the day. I haven't really had a chance to paint my nails recently so i thought as i had a free afternoon i would pamper myself a little and this is the result.

I got this little No7 nail polish in my No7 advent calendar last year, its in the shade 'Deep Wine'.

Its this beautiful deep red that has slightly purple tone in the right light. I think its really pretty, perfect for this season and so happy i got it in the calendar.

Max Factor's 'Gel Shine Lacquer' Nail Polish.

Today i have for you quick post on a new nail polish i recently bought.

The one i picked up was Max Factor's 'Gel Shine Lacquer' I've never been a fan of gel nail polish but these looked really good so i thought i'd give them a go.

I got it in the shade 'Sheen Merlot' which is this beautiful burgundy red colour, perfect for autumn/ winter.  It only needs one coat, i put on two just out of habit. The product gives a lovely finish but not quite the gel effect i thought i was going to get but none the less its a beautiful nail polish. The brush was perfect size and made it easy to apply. Max Factor have produced a beautiful colour selection, i think there is a colour that would suit everyone.  

The only problem was it chipped after two days. It kinda sucked but next time i will put on a top coat.  The price is a little higher than i normally go for they are £6.99 each but were on sale for £4.99. (which i think has now ended)

A Month In Nails: August

Hello darlings

Today i thought i would do a little post on the nail polishes i have been loving this month. I'm planning to make this a little series, let me know if you like this and would be interested.  

You can already see by this picture there is a theme here, Barry M. It is by far my favourite nail polish brand, most of the nail polishes i own are Barry M. I think they are fantastic quality at great value, with a wonderful shade range and textures.

The three shades i have worn this month are: 

'Shocking Pink'

I don't own many pink nail polishes, but i love this one! Its sort of a Barbie, neon pink, its lovely. I also wore this back in July as mention in my July favoruites (Link). 

Next is 'Berry Cosmo'

This is a new purchase for me and i love it. Its very Gothic, and reminds me of my younger teen punk/emo days, this is something i would have totally worn! Its a lovely deep purple.

'Red Wine'

Red Wine is by far my favourite shade, this is my second bottle i love it so much. Its the perfect red for me and goes with all my outfits i wear.
