Essence Velvet Stick // Bargain Time // Lip Of The Week #27

Hello darlings

Today is my little bargain of the week, this time its a Essence product! I don't own many Essence products, i only have a small handful. Which is a shame as they have some real gems at great prices. I feel in England its quite an under talked about brand i know its big in the U.S. Anyway i was in Wilko which is like heaven for me at the moment, looking for house and baby things and i thought i'd have a little browse of the Essence stand. I noticed the Velvet Sticks, i love matte and velvet lip products so at £2 i had to pick one up.
These matte lip crayons are so handy! i don't why they aren't talked about all the time. Essence isn't the only brand that i've tried, i have a couple from Revlon, Collection, KIKO and Primark and i love them. They apply so effortlessly and easy on the go. These Essence ones are my latest addition to my collection and i'm so impressed. I bought it in the shade Peony 02, i do love my purple lipies! Although initially i thought i used in the autumn/winter, i think its actually an all year round shade. Its a very flattering tone, a cool purple. It is creamy and very pigmented. It was the perfect velvet, it wasn't drying or too matte. It is long lasting and it didn't transfer. There was a nice colour range on the stand, i'll have to go back and get another, the red one catches my eye!

I'd love to know have you tried this product?

Bargain of the week: Essence Single Eye Shadow

Hello darlings

Today is my bargain of the week i need to start doing this on a specific day and make it a series, let me know what you guys think. Although i did buy this essence single eye shadow in 'All I Need' a few months back i feel that not many people in the beauty community talk about Essences single eye shadows so i thought i'd write a quick post about how much i love them. They are amazing and are only £1! I think their single eye shadows are so much better than their palettes.
As usual i'll start of with packaging, its simple and cheap for for £1 what do you expect. But it is sturdy it feels well made. You get 1.8g which is a decent amount. The pigmentation is incredible, even lightly swatched the colour is beautiful. I find they are long lasting even without a eye primer. Its creamy and blends so beautifully. Without seeing the packaging you'd think you were using an Urban Decay shadow. It can be used as an all over shadow it works beautifully for that as a stand alone colour but i like to use it as my inner corner highlight.

Dupe for Stila kitten which i have in my Eyes Are The Window Spirit palette. I must buy more of these and only £1 they don't break the bank!
You can buy it here

I'd love to know have you tried this eye shadow or any of the Essence single shadows?

My top 5 under £5

Hello darlings

My last top 5 under £5 was when i first started blogging about two years ago so i thought it was time for a new one! I always love these types of posts and as you can find some real bargains! It also shows you don't need to spend a lot of money on good products.

First up is this great budget powder, i think it is one of the best you can find on the high street. I love the Rimmel Stay Matte but i found myself repurchasing the Seventeen one more than the Rimmel. Its very finely milled that keeps you matte all day. Its a great bargain for under £5 as it lasts a long time.

This is my newest concealer and its quickly become a staple in my everyday makeup routine. If you follow me on Instagram (link hint hint) then you'll see i mention it frequently in my FOTD's. I find this is perfect for under eyes, it doesn't crease or settle into fine lines and it is long lasting. Plus it is great for people with very fair skin as it has a very light shade, but the shade range doesn't go very deep so sadly its not good for deeper skin tones as the deepest shade is medium.

If you are looking for a quick touch up for your brows this is brilliant especially if you're in a rush! Its is also really good if you don't need to draw in your brows and you just need to add a little something. It gives brows a fuller appearance and adds thickness and colour. If you do need to fill in your brows then this can be used just to set them.

I mentioned the Make Up Academy eye shadow palettes in my last 5 under £5. I was going to put a Makeup Revolution palette in this post instead of mentioning MUA again but i don't have any of their palettes under £5. I have the Iconic Pro ones and Salvation palettes but they are a little more money. I might save them for a top 10 under £10! Nonetheless i still love MUA, their eye shadows are very similar to Makeup Revolution. Very pigmented, easy to blend and long lasting. A real bargain!

Most of the lip liners i've tried from the high street tend to be rough, dry and drag along your lips. But not this Essence lip liners, they are creamy, pigmented and come in many wearable shades. They are so good they can be worn on their own. I definitely need to pick up more of these!

I'd love to know have you tried any of these products?
What are some of you favourite products under £5?

Lip Of The Week #20 A Classic Red Lip Duo

Hello darlings.

This weeks lip of the week is a duo i've been using recently to create the classic red lip. I find when wearing a red lip to get the perfect one i lip liner is needed! I hope you enjoy :)

The Essence Lip Liner in 'Ready For Red' is a recent purchase of mine, i've heard so many good things about the Essence Lip liners, and they have lived up to my high expectations. They are creamy, very pigmented and long lasting! I find it the perfect base for my red lipsticks. I think they'd also work really well on their own. I currently only have two but i hope to try out more colours.

The Revlon Balm Stains have been some of my favourite lip products since i discovered them in 2014. The Revlon Balm Stain in Standout is a very deep classic 'standout' red that is perfect for this season. I wouldn't say its a everyday colour, its is much more of a special occasion or night out lipstick. Nonetheless i have really enjoyed wearing it recently, especially with dark eye shadow or winged liner.

I'd love to know what do you think of this combination?
Have you tried either of these two?
Can you recommend any good red lipsticks?

Essence Haul/Review

Hello darlings.

I'm back! Did you miss me?
Today i for you guys a little, a very little, haul from Essence that i got a couple of weeks back when i went to Exeter for the day. Unfortunately we don't have a Wilko in Bath so i haven't had the chance to try any essence products when they first launched them. I bought two items, a mascara and a lipstick.
I'll start with the lipstick:
The colour i went for was a lovely purple, again going with my new 'adventurous' streak i'm going for at the moment.

As always i'll start with the packaging, i like it, its a great size tube that doesn't look cheap. You get a decent amount of product, 3.8g and it has the 'e' stamped in to it which i really like. Cute colour range, with many that would suit lots of different people. The main thing i don't like about this lipstick is the plastic smell, its horrible. You can smell it on your lips when your wearing it and its not just for a second or two its for quite a while after you've applied it.
It applies quite drying at first but then turn quite creamy the more layers you apply. But overall I don’t like the lipstick and i don't think i will buy any more.

The second item i bought was a mascara:
The colour i went for was black.

This on the other hand i loved! I though't this was a brilliant mascara. I have really small eyelashes that don't do much. I think the reason the mascara has worked so well for me, its not just the formula, which is great but the brush itself. The brush is not too big which is great as it makes it very easy to apply and doesn't get all over my eyelids! It didn't do anything dramatic to them in length but it didn't clump and it made a very nice natural look. Overall i really love this mascara and would definitely buy it again.
My experience so far with Essence is 50/50.

Have you tried anything from Essence?
What is your option of their products? And would you recommend any?
