DEPOP // My Experience // Tips for buying

Depop is always something i've wanted to use as i've seen so many people get great bargains off of the site/app, but i've always been too nervous, the same with purchasing makeup off Ebay. You never know what you are going to get. If its real or fake? Has it been used? Is it sanitary? Is it a legit seller or a scammer?

 I recently decided just to go for it as there was a couple of Mac items i've wanted for a while and these were more than half the price of buying of of the Mac website. I purchased The Mac 15 'Cool' Eye shadow Palette for £20 RRP £50 and The Mac Burgundy X9 Eye Shadow Palette for £12 RRP £26. Both had been swatched but not used. I have sanitised them when they arrived.  

I thought i would do a little post on my experience and a few tips. I hope you enjoy!

These two Mac palettes are from two different sellers. Both lovely sellers i must saw, really sweet girls. Both messaged me shortly after i paid, saying thank you and kept me updated during the posting process. My items arrived quickly, well packaged and in good condition. 

Here are my 5 tips when purchasing off of Depop.

1. Before buying look at the sellers reviews, they should also leave you a review as a buyer too. Check that they sell legit items, that items were dispatched on the time they stated, and arrived in good condition. 

2. Check the RRP, don't pay more than the RRP, you might as well go to the original seller, at least then you have the guarantee that's its legit. Pre-worn/used items or products loose their value, something to bear in mind. Unless they are Limited Edition or rare.

3. Screenshot your confirmation and Paypal can also refund if you don't receive your items to up to 180 days i believe. 

4. Lots of sellers don't accept returns so make sure you carefully look at the photos and are 100% sure you want the item as you can't return.

5. Quite a few seller put 'message before buying' or 'don't buy through here' they are most likely trying to get out of paying Depop fees (they take 10%) or they might be scammers and will delete their account shortly after the transaction.

July Favourites // 2020

Hello darlings.

How is it almost August?! This year has gone so fast, self isolation, maternity leave, the lock down etc. But saying that its given me lots of time to really get stuck into doing thins i've wanted to do for ages. I've really been getting back into makeup, home wear, fashion recently and really enjoying blogging and especially Instagram recently. (My Instagram @Perfectfixation_) Therefore i have my first favourites of the year! I know, July, five months into the year, but if not i'm not feeling it or loving it i'm not going to fake it. I only blog and talk about items that i am genuinely enjoying and want to write about. So here are a couple of products i've been loving.

Mac Bronzer £23.50: I only got this bronzer last month but i'm really enjoying it. The powder is a satin finish, giving a very luminous affect on the skin. 'Lit from within' i should say. The texture is creamy, very blendable. Its quite pigmentented, so a little goes a long way. A really nice product.

Channel No5 £113.00 for 100ml: This perfume i have been wearing a lot this month, I was blessed to receive a bottle of Chanel No5 from my dad on my 16th birthday. I had nagged him for ages, i wanted the perfume that Marilyn Monroe had worn, i was (and still am) obsessed with her. So i wanted to have the famous Chanel No5. Also because it was Chanel, it was so grown up and no one else i knew had anything Chanel. To me it smells the same as it did nearly 10 years ago but i'm aware that perfume changes scent over time, It has always been store away from direct sunlight and always kept in its original box to preserve it.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipstick in 'Buff' £18.00: I got this lipstick from TKmaxx last year. I love the colour which is a beautiful pinky-mauve. Its quiet similar to MAC Mehr. Very pretty and pigmented shade. I always keep this one in my handbag, as its great for eveyday use and goes with most makeup looks. 

No7 Skin Illuminator £12.50: Lastly, if you follow me on Instagram you will see i talk about this product a lot. I love it, i use a thin layer of this product underneath my makeup. It gives me a healthy glow, very natural and its great for summer. Its quick and easy product great for busy mums or of you are on the go a lot.

My Top 5 Lipsticks // High End

Hello Darlings,

Today i thought i would put together a little post about my favourite high end lipsticks. I have to admit lipsticks are my weakness, if a new collection comes out normally the lipstick is what gets my attention! The lipsticks included are all different shades of nude, from brown, to rosy to mauve.  I find pinks, coral and most reds tend not to suit me. 

Firstly two Mac lipsticks, Mac is one of my favourite brands for lipsticks, i've built up quite a collection so it was hard to choose just two. But the two i chose were Mehr and Velvet Teddy, two great nudes. Mehr is a mauve toned nude and Velvet Teddy is a brown toned nude. Both matte but super comfortable on the lips.

Calvin Klein in the shade 'Underwood' is a light brown nude, the palest out of the selection here. Its a great everyday colour for work. Its a very creamy formula, not matte more of a cream sheen. 

Next up is my only NARS lipstick, in the shade Pigelle, its the darkest shade here. Its red-ish nude, very flattering and wearable dark nude. I think this lipstick would suit all skin tones. Again its a matte lipstick, drier than the Mac lipsticks, but with a balm underneath its very comfortable. Is there any other NARS shades i should try?

Lastly Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick in 'Buff' i got this in TKMaxx last year. This is such a beautiful colour lipstick, this is a rosy brown, a really wearable colour. Applies smoothly, high coverage and very comfortable on the lips. They have a great shade range so i will be looking at purchasing more in the future.

Current Favourite Makeup Base // Summer 2020

Hello darlings.

Today post is all about what base products i have been loving in lock down. To be honest i haven't been wearing a lot of makeup in lock down but these are the products i have been reaching for when i have. They are products that create a minimal glowy look. Perfect for this beautiful weather we are having. 

No7 Skin Illuminator: (£12.50) Who doesn't love a glow? I have quite dry skin so i prefer a dewy/glow base than a matte. I use a thin layer of this product underneath my makeup, a little goes a long way. It gives me a healthy glow, very natural and its great for summer. Its quick and easy product great for busy mums or of you are on the go a lot.

Relvon Colour Stay Foundation: (£12.99) This is an all time favourite foundation of mine, i think i've probably used it on and off for 10+ years now. Its the perfect colour for me, i have the shade buff. Normally i find pale foundations are more pink toned but this one is neutral. Its has good coverage, not to heavy but not sheer. Comes in two formulas one for oily/normal and one normal/dry and i have the latter. Its perfect texture and finish for my skin all year found.

YSL Touche Eclat: (£27.99) This is such a pretty concealer, its a brightening product which as a mum to a 3 year old and a newborn is much needed. Its a light formula, great for under the eyes, doesn't look to cakey or dry. I wouldn't use it on blemishes but with lock down and the little makeup i've been wearing i've had really clear skin so i can go without.  

Mac Radiant Bronzer: (£23.50) This is the newest product to my collection, (my review) This powder is a satin finish as though its advertised as matte, giving a very luminous affect on the skin. 'Lit from within' i should say. The texture is creamy and glides on to the skin. Its quite pigmented, so a little goes a long way. 

No7 Blush in Honey (£9.00) I got this in my No7 Advent Calender last year, i really love the colour. Its a perfect all year round colour, really pretty mauve brown. Its quite sheer so its easy not to go over the top!

Charlotte Tilbury // Travel Sized Pillow Talk Lip Kit // A Lock Down Treat.

 Hello darlings.

How are we all doing? How are you spending your lock down? We've been doing house reservations and work on the garden, or at least trying with a toddler and newborn! I've also been more inspired to write blog posts, so hopefully you will see a few more from me from now on. I've also noticed my follower count has gone up by quite a few, hello everyone! Thank you for following.

Can you believe i'd never tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury, i know a blogger crime. But i have always thought its quite expensive and that maybe its overrated? But the products look so luxurious i really wanted to try something! I thought a good item to start with would be the famous Pillow Talk lipstick as everyone and their mother seems to have it and enjoy it. The perfect nude that suits all, or so it claims... When i saw they now had a travel sized version that also came with the lip liner with the same name that was only £20 i thought it would be a good way to test it out before buying full size.  

I ordered the travel sized as it was £20 for both the lip liner and lipstick, which is a pretty good deal as on its own the full size lipstick is £25 and the lip liner is £17 which would set you back £42 for the pair. Another reason i chose the travel sized was because how often do you finish a lipstick and liner? Plus it will be good to keep in my handbag, especially smaller bags for nights/ dinners out. Remember those?

The packing is beautiful, really luxurious. The lipstick is very old Hollywood glam which i love. Considering i purchased the mini i'm glad it has the same packaging as the full size. The lipstick scent is a subtle vanilla which is quite nice, reminds me of the Mac lipsticks.

The formula of the lip liner is really nice, very creamy and easy to apply. The pigment is really good. The swatch on my hand lasted all day which was impressive. It also feels very comfortable on the lips. 

 The lipstick is just as creamy with good colour pay off although it sheer at first can be built up and lasts a long time on the lips. It feels much more dry on, i know its matte but i have other matte lipsticks that are a little more comfortable. Its not very uncomfortable but you can feel it on your lips, but over a lip balm its much nicer. But by putting it over lip balm makes it not as long lasting. 

The shade is a pretty pinky nude colour, its more pink than i was expecting. I had read it was suppose to be a universal 'your lips but better'. I looked at swatches online and was expecting more of a nude than a pink, but none the less its pretty and it makes it a little different that my million other nude lipsticks! (Its more pink on the lips than it looks her on my hand.) The lip liner is slightly darker more what i was expecting.

I spent i think the minimum you could on the website but i still got to choose 2 samples which was really good. I chose the Full Fat Lashes Mascara and Lipstick samples which i am excited to try! 

Overall i'm happy i purchased this little mini set but i wouldn't buy the full size lipstick, after using these samples i might see if there is a colour a little better suited to me. But i really like the lip liner and once its used up i'll look to buying it full size.

Giving Birth - While The World Is On Lock down // Violet's Birth Story

Hello darlings, 

I know its been a while, longer than normal since i last wrote a post. But a lot of exciting things have been happening! I don't think i announced on my blog that i was expecting my second child. Baby Violet made her appearance on April 26th at 4:55am weighing 6lb 5oz (2.8kg) and i thought i would share my experience on giving birth while the world is on lock down due to Covid-19 in case there are any mums to be that are worrying or have questions about it. 

I know when i was pregnant i felt this suddenly wasn't a good time to be having a baby but you can't put a pause on it! I got sent home from work at 33 weeks pregnant about 3 weeks before i was due to go on maternity leave. I had mixed feeling about being at home. On one hand it was amazing, it was for my own safety (and baby's), i had extra maternity leave (on full pay, woo!) and i got to have more time with my son Isaac (3 years old) before we had his sister join us. But on the other hand it felt like i'd been sacked which i know is weird, but its was so sudden and i didn't get a chance to say goodbye to anyone, i didn't think that would be my last day and i haven't been back to work since. I also haven't really seen anyone since either, which has been hard.

I've decided to split this post into categories to make it easier to read :) 

Appointments:

The last few appointments of my pregnancy were a little different, i had to attend alone. Both the my local surgery and the hospital, my partner wasn't allowed in, which was sad. But i understand why, its all done for our safety, both ours and theirs. Midwifes wore PPE but other than that it was the same as normal. Same examinations and listening to the baby's heartbeat. I think if this was my first pregnancy it would have affected me more as i know that, at least in my local hospital, partners and family are not allowed in for the 12 and 20 week scan. Which is a big part of your pregnancy seeing you baby together on the screen. Seeing them move and finding out gender.  

Going into labour:

I started getting mild pains on Thursday 23rd April (39 weeks pregnant) and these went on for a couple of days, i had assumed they were just Braxton Hicks. By Saturday they were coming every 3 mins and lasing for about 1 minute and very very painful. My fiance Will called the hospital and they asked me to come in. The only thing that was difference was they asked if we had any Covid-19 symptoms, which we didn't. Will's parents had been self isolating for 2 weeks prior so they would be safe to come and watch Isaac while i was in labour as they were not allowing children in the hospital. I know some women have opted to give birth alone as you can't have anyone with you that doesn't live in your household. But Isaac's birth was so traumatic (Emergency C Section and several problems with the healing process) that this was the what we decided as i couldn't do it alone. But i understand why some wouldn't want to risk it. 

Hospital:

We arrived at the hospital at about 9pm, i was allowed in but Will had to wait in the car outside. I was checked over and hooked up to a trace machine. They told me i was about 3cm dilated and that i had two choices, first was the stay in hospital and when i was in active labour (which i believe is 4 or 5 cm) i would go down to the birthing suite and then my partner would be called back in. Or i could go back home and be with my partner, relax in my own home and when my contractions get closer together then come back in. I opted for the second choice, the midwife wanted me to stay in for another 30 mins while they finished the trace. When she came back i was in a lot more pain and my contractions had sped up. She checked me once more and i was in active labour. So Will was called in and met us in the birthing suite, it was about 10:30 at this point. 

Everything was the same as normal the only differences were my lovely midwife was in PPE. She had to change her gloves, mask and gown every time she left and enter the room. Also once Will had entered the building he wasn't allowed to leave. We also wasn't allowed any family and friends to visit. My labour went wonderfully, as smoothly as it could have Violet was born at 4:55am with Will present. No tearing or cuts or complications so we left about midday after a couple of checks were completed. 

After appointments:

Similar to my appointments while pregnant, only myself and Violet were been allowed to be there. They aren't doing home visits so they are done at the hospital or over the phone. Her 5 and 10 day checks were done at hospital but the rest over the phone including the health visitor talk.  

I think the hardest part is that friends and family can't come a see Violet. And we don't know when they will be able to. We've had some wonderful presents and cards left on the doorstop from them and neighbours!  

This wasn't exactly how i imagined i would do Violet's birth announcement but hopefully it is useful! Here is Isaac's birth story if anyone is interested. 

Also Violet was a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after C Section) so if anyone is due one or has any questions i'm happy to do a post as i had a really positive one. I was thinking of also doing a breastfeeding post if anyone would be interested. All the things i've learnt and little tips and tricks to make it go as smoothly as possible.

Lip of the week 35 // Maybelline Lip paint.

How are you all?

Today's post is my lip of the week, this product is new to me. its the Maybelline Lip Paint in 'Stripped Down'. I bought it on Fragrance Direct a couple weeks back for £1.25! But since i've had a little look on the Boots and Superdug websites but i couldn't find them on there. But the fragrance direct link is here and the link to buy them on the Mayeblline website. So i know the range is still available. 

I only purchased this lip paint about 2 weeks ago and i have worn it non stop. 

The packing is a tube with a doefer applicator at the end, its not one that you can take out its attached to the packaging. So you squeeze and the product comes out. I quite like the applicator, its soft and applies the product evenly. But i know people will have a problem with it do to hygiene but as i'm only going to use the product on myself i'm not worried. But you can squeeze a small amount on to the back of you hand and apply with a brush if preferred. 

The colour is a beautiful nude, very 90s. Its pink toned but not too pink, i was worried looking at the picture online that it would be a straight up pink shade instead of a nude but its not. Its a beautiful natural nude. 

The texture, its a very liquidy, its quite glossy when you apply it but after a bit of wear time it dries down matte. The product is really comfortable on the lips and last a really long time. But sadly its not transfer proof.

Underrated products // Gosh eye shadow palette

Happy Tuesday, what have you guys been up to today? I've just had a chill day, house work, gardening, running errands etc, which has been really nice. Today's post is the latest instalment of my underrated products series, i'm loving writing this series, my last one was the Collection highlighter stick, link. today product is a palette from GOSH. I love GOSH makeup, i feel its a brand that is not hugely talked about, at least not that i seeing. Its a affordable, vegan and cruelty free, which is brilliant. I received this eye shadow palette which is called 005 To Party in London, from work a few years ago. I think its so beautiful, great palette for every occasion. 

Its a lovely compact palette that is shiny and sleek looking. The palette has a really good sized mirror in the lid. Its all shimmer and glitter shadows that are some of the most pigmented shadows i own. There is also a good range of colours, you have neutrals, warm and cool shades. I think there is a colour for everyone, whether its a day time look or a evening look. The shadows are creamy, smooth and blend beautifully. 

The only down side is there is no shade names and no mattes so i couldn't solely use this palette on its own as i need a matte base and a matte crease. But overall its such a pretty palette!

One Brand // W7

Hello darlings.

Today's post is a full face of W7 makeup, I use to do this all the time when i started blogging. I would get as many products from a brand as i could and try and put them all together and see what the brand offered. For example, bare in mind they are super old posts, here are my Rimmel, Maybelline, MUA One brand post. Today's one brand face will be W7 a brand i've not really tried before, i've heard good things about them. So i thought why not try a full face of products all at once.

First i'll start with the stand out products:

The Romanced Eye Shadow Palette, this palette is a dupe for the Anastasia Soft Glam Palette and i'm really surprised with how good this is, i paid £4.99 for it which is a really cheap, i think full price its £10. The shades are pretty and pigmented. They blend nicely and i'm really happy with the eye look i created, definitely a romantic look as the name suggests.

The Glowcomotion Highlighter, beautiful colour, it is a little more golden than i normally wear but with my tan it blended out quite nicely. 

The Skinny Lipping Liquid Lipstick in the shade 'Butterfly Kiss' it is such a beautiful colour, a deep pink and very pigmented. Really nice texture, comfortable in the lips. I think it would suit most skin tones as well. 

The Banana Dreams Powder, i did enjoy using this powder, it set my makeup nicely and i will definitely be using it again. 

Next up the bad...

Apart from the four above i didn't like the rest, i'm sorry W7.

The worst were, the mascara, Absolute Lashes. It did nothing for lashes, made them blacker but that was it. No length and no volume. The packaging make it look like a dupe for the Benefit their real mascara but its nothing like it.

The Face Fantasy Foundation when i first used this the first thing i noticed was how good the colour match was. Which was great as it wasn't too pink or too yellow it was the prefect neutral colour. But it was very cakey and patchy. Didn't blend well, stuck to all my dry patches and when i tried to build it it looked awful. 

The concealer Saved By The Gel, i choose in the shade fair, but it was so dark! which was disappointing as the foundation shade was so good. The concealer offered no coverage in the picture below you can still seem my under eye dark circles. 

Lastly the okay....

The Honolulu Bronzer, the product blended nicely and had good pigment but the colour didn't suit me. I don't think they do any other shades, for this bronzer but this one was orange on my skin tone. 

The Black King Khol eyeliner was alright, a standard black liner. It was nice and did the job but didn't wow me. 

The Prime Magic Primer i used with the foundation it didn't work or help the foundation. But i will try this on its own to give it a fair chance, so i will update you guys on how that goes. 

Overall i have very mixed feelings, i'm glad i tried this products but there was more fails and gems. I'd love to know have you tried any of these products?

My new bargain lipstick // Anastasia Beverly Hills.

If you follow me on Instagram (link) you would have seen that i popped into TKMaxx a couple of days ago and found quite a few bargains! They had a lot of Anastasia Beverly Hill's products and pretty decent ones too, normally they are products that people don't want. These are not just ABH but other brands for example, black and purple lipsticks, or green and purple eye shadow.

They had contour palettes (the last one had finger prints in so i didn't pick it up) lots of single eye shadows, liquid lipsticks, lipsticks etc. Have a look at my bargain stories on my Insta to see which ones. Also they had lots of other brand too for example, Stila, Maybelline, Revlon, Pixi, Estee Lauder. 

I only picked up one lipstick, i know the self restraint, but i need to save money for my holiday. I chose a ABH matte lipstick in the shade Buff. Which is a beautiful pinky-mauve. Its quiet similar to MAC Mehr. I was really happy to find this shade as its the type of shade i usually wear which means i should get a lot of use out of it. 

Very pretty and pigmented shade. I do think it is a very dry texture but it is comfortable on the lips as long as i have a lip balm underneath.  But being a dry formula means its a long lasting product.

Pretty In Pink // Nail Care Routine. // My Go To Look.

Today i thought i would share with you my current go to routine for my nails and the look i have been loving. Its a really simple look that is quick and easy to create.

All the nail polishes are Essie but just by chance i'm not sponsored by them, they are just my current favourites. I start off with the nail file and buffer, any type will do, i make sure all my nails are even and smooth. I then put a thin layer of hand cream on to hydrate my hands. My current favourite is the Nivea Vanilla and Almond Oil, it smells lovely. Then i start with the Essie Apricot Oil to soften and nourish my cuticles. I put two/three coats of Essie 'Not Just A Pretty Face' on three of my nails, my thumb, middle and pinky. Then i put two Essie 'Disco Ball' of the other two. To top it all off i put the Essie Top Coat 'All In One' on top of all my nails to seal it all in and to avoid chipping. I love this look as its quite subtle but pretty and you can wear it daily. 

Essie are not the cheapest nail products but are really good and i find worth the money. But if you're like me and love a bargain you can always deals where you can find them a little cheaper for example TKMaxx, Fragrance Direct, Ebay etc. I have quite a large collection but that is because i bought the Essie Advent calendar a couple years ago after Christmas, 24 nails polishes for £7 (plus i had staff discount at the time) the calendar was worth £70!

Dare magazine // June 2019

Hello darlings.

I thought i would come on here quick just to let you know about the latest issue of DARE magazine. I love getting this magazine its always such good value. I'm a bit late writing this as it has been out for a while. I remember i missed the last issue and i was gutted. The June issue has 2 products and several sachets which is perfect as i go on holiday in 2 weeks so perfect timing. It was £3 and has the value of £11. 

It comes with a sample of J Low's Enduring glow perfume which smells amazing. A sample of the shampoo and conditioner of the Mane n Tail, i've heard so many good things about this brand and i look forward to trying this. A full size Revolution liquid highlight in the shade Rose Gold, this is £6 so double what i paid so this alone makes the purchase worth it. Its a little bit dark for my skin tone but i will make it work as it is so beautiful. Maybe an an eye shadow? Next a mini Colgate tooth paste, great for my holiday. A Hawaiian Tropic Sun Cream sample again great for my holiday! Its like they knew. Lastly the magazine also contains a book of vouchers to spend at Superdrug, these are points vouchers and discounts on their nail and brow bar.

Empties // June 2019

Hello darlings

Today i'm stood in my kitchen with my cup of tea that i have microwaved three times having a few moments to my self and thought i would write a little post. Anyone else with kids are constantly microwaving their tea or coffee? There is always one in my microwaved that i have forgotten about. Anyway today's post is an empties post, do people still read these? Or am i stuck in the past? I really enjoy reading and writing these posts. Anyway here are a few things i've used up this month!

Maybelline Lash Sensational: There is always one of these mascaras in my empties, my all time favourite mascara is the Lash Sensational. I've been using it for years and i have tried others along the way but none beat it. So i will repurchase it when i run out of my back up stash!

L'Oreal True Match Foundation: Its taken me a while to use this up i do really like it but its my summer shade so i put it away at the end of last summer and have finally finished the last little bit now that the sun is back out. It has great coverage, lovely finish and lasts well in the heat. I might buy this again in the future but for now i've got a draw full of foundations i still need to use up.

Simple Kind to Skin Replenishing Moisturiser: This is a firm favourite of mine, whenever i need a good basic moisturiser i look to Simple. I think this works really nice first thing in the morning. It feels and looks amazing on my skin and it sits really well under makeup. It is a very light moisturiser but i need a thicker moisturiser at night. I will definitely be repurchasing this again.

B Hydrated Hyaluronic Acid Facial Spritz: I LOVE this facial spritz. I already have another one on the go. My skin reacts really well to Hyaluronic acid. I have been using this facial spritz for some time, i can't remember how many i have purchased. 

Jimmy Choo Blossom: My fiance bought this for me for Christmas a couple of years ago when it first came out. Its such a beautiful scent, its floral but light. I would think i buying it again but there are so many other fragrances i want to try next! 

Batiste Dry Shampoo: I mean what can i say who doesn't love and need dry shampoo. I have tried a million different ones but Batiste is the only one that works for me. This one is in the scent Sweetie but there are lots of really nice scents from them.  I will definitely be buying again as i can't live without dry shampoo.
